Heartbreaking image of cat found with serious injuries in the wildfires ravaging in California.

Cat dies hours after being plucked from devastating wildfire, nicknamed ‘Billiegirl’ after California street where it was found passes away at rescue centre.

Billiegirl is just one of the thousands of animals to die in California’s deadliest wildfires.

“Camp Fire” is still raging in northern California after claiming the lives of at least 42 people, while another 228 have been listed as missing, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said.

Already ranked the most destructive on record in California in terms of property losses – after consuming more than 7,100 homes and other structures since igniting last Thursday – Camp Fire has had a massive impact on the town of Paradise.

Other photos show dogs, horses, a goose and a giraffe are some of the other animals that have been rescued.

Amid fears thousands of animals will not survive the blazes, Fire officials have warned that, given the tinder-dry conditions and strong winds, it could take weeks to fully contain the blazes sweeping across northern and southern California.

Pray for California 🙏😿💔
