A video of a man burning a cat in Hanoi has left many people shocked and angry.
“How can this man be so cruel and evil?” a Facebooker asked, while many others said they could not believe such a disastrous situation could happen.
A 5 minute video of a man burning a cat alive has gone viral on the Internet in the last few days.
The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Oct. 27, Nguyen Phuc Lai Street in Hanoi’s Dong Da District.
In the video, the man stops his motorbike in an alley before putting a caged cat on the ground.
He later pours liquid onto the cage and sets it on fire, with the cat still inside.
The fire is raging when the man leaves the scene.
The cat later successfully escaped the cage and ran into a house nearby, with her back in flames, according to the Hanoi-based Center of Pet Animal Protections and Studies, which is currently treating the feline.
The most severe burns are on the ears and four legs, while the cat is suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), so she did not eat anything in two days, a representative of the rescue station said.
As of Monday morning, her health has not improved much, the vet still feeds her porridge, fluids and takes care of her wounds.
The female owner of the cat contacted the rescue station wanting to take her back, but the station refused to avoid future accidents.
The cat is a pet shared by her and her boyfriend, who had burned the cat alive due to a conflict.
The man posted an apology on Facebook on Yesterday Oct. 31, writing he was sorry and had no excuse for his action.
But the online community did not accept this, calling him inhumane and savage.
Why should poor pets suffer because of our stupid struggles? 🙁
